Simple Wood Nativity

Simple Wood Nativity
I had the opportunity come up to attend ALT winter and I was sooo excited. I ultimately decided against it even though it’s kind of dream come true because right now I can’t devote time to my business without sacrificing time with my family. Although that’s necessary for a lot of people, right now, my income isn’t needed and I can’t justify spending more time away when it is just a selfish want of mine. I know I need time for myself, thus, I do spend some time on my business. Balance is so tough guys.
Balance during the holidays is especially tough! My mom has this tradition of collecting Nativities. I think it’s the most beautiful tradition as her house is covered in reminders of the true meaning of Christmas. My belief in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer is central to who I am. Knowing Whose I Am shapes everything about me; my hopes, dreams, goals, family, etc. Teaching my kids why we celebrate Christmas is super important to me and so I’m excited to start the tradition of decorating with Nativities in my house as well.

Carissa Miss: Simple Wood Nativity

I made this rustic nativity for my entry. It fits perfectly with my DIY Advent Calendar. It was super easy to make and would be a perfect gift for my mom’s collection. {or your sister’s or mother-in-law’s!}

First, I cut a 1×10 down to 11.5″, lightly sanded it and stained it with Minwax Dark Walnut.

After it was dry, I used the I used the Hazel and Ruby Nativity Stencil Mask and painted with Country Chic Paint in Vanilla Frosting.

I sanded the edges down and lightly over the rest of the piece to rough it up a bit using my Ryobi Corner Cat
