Even though I’m not eating sugar right now, my family is. One of my daughter’s favorite things to do together is make cookies. She loves being my little helper! My recipe is super simple and you can mix up the add-ins for whatever type of cookie you’re craving. Peanut butter chocolate chip? No, problem. Chocolate mint? Easy peasy. Pink and sprinkles? Done! Ready for the basic recipe?
My Favorite Cookie Recipe
1 1/2 sticks butter
3/4 cup white sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
2+ cups of flour
1 cup add-ins: chocolate chips/sprinkles/raisins/peanut butter/oats/white chocolate chips…
Cream butter and sugar with a mixer on slow.
Add the egg while the mixer is still going. Add baking soda, vanilla and salt.
Make sure to either keep the mixer on the slowest setting or stop in between each ingredient so it doesn’t get over mixed. Add the rest of the ingredients until the dough starts to form a ball and no longer sticks to your finger. It should still be pliable and soft. Bake at 350 for about 12 minutes.
Of course, we’re not completely done until the mess is cleaned up. She loves to be my helper with the dishes too. I used to not let her actually wash any dishes because I didn’t have anywhere safe for her to put them.
But really, the best part is that Eliza can do all the dishes herself
Crisis averted. Rubbermaid Dish Drainer Deluxe saves the day, and my kitchen.
