Last night, I went to check out a new local thrift store, TAG’s, and picked out a couple pieces for a fun little Fashion Show competition. I have not ever done women’s fashion here before, so I thought I’d challenge myself and do a women’s thrift store re-fashion!
The hardest part for me about thrifting is to find quality pieces. I check each item’s fabric content before I let myself fall in love with it. It wouldn’t do good to have a fabulous idea only to be ruined by poor quality!
When I spotted this 100% genuine leather jacket I knew I HAD to do something with it. I actually headed to the menswear section first so I’d have plenty of material to work with.
I scoured the women’s section looking for something that would compliment my leather–something feminine and soft. I didn’t look for things in just my size because I knew I could alter it, but then this little dress jumped out at me
I loved the print and when I tried it on I actually didn’t have to alter it at all! Well, besides the whole weird front wrap. That definitely had to go.
Deconstructing the pieces was the most time consuming. I unpicked the sleeves and the front wrap and then cut out the sleeves from the leather jacket
I attached them to the dress
The zipper belonged to the leather jacket as well and I looove how modern it makes the dress look.
