DIY farmhouse table finish

do you know how hard it is to photograph an 8″ long table? especially for a camera newbie like me. admire the chippy beautifulness of it. and the fact that it cost me approximately $100 of gift card money. read about the construction break-down here.

want to duplicate this finish on something you own?

i really wanted something cottagy/rustic looking. dear emmeline had this great visual and break-down of different natural stains and their effects. read more here.

i tried her different applications {gray stain, apple cider vinegar, and white vinegar}. none of them darkened the wood stain like i wanted, so i finally tried staining with a dark stain. i used minwax dark walnut and wiped a rag with a little stain over the wood.
this got the grain to really show up. i almost didn’t do the white wash, but i wanted it to stand out from my dark wood floors. here are some up close shots

I’m linking this project up with the hope of making into a competition over at East Coast Creative. I’d love it if you came and saw me over there!!!
