guest feature: A little knick knack

Hi Everyone! I'm so excited to be here at Carissa's blog! It's awesome to be here.

My name is Meg and I have a little corner of cyber space called A Little Knick Knack. I started blogging almost 3 years ago now, in order to find some sanity in my chaotic life of 4 kids. I love to post my little crafts, have others come for a visit post, and I also host a link party every Friday called Everything but the Kitchen Sink. I hope you can join!

I love simple, easy and cheap projects. They are practically my life. That's all I seem to do these days. I saw this awhile ago and have been itching to try it out. Stamping candles. So easy! How hard could this be? Well, as I can attest, if you have the correct materials...super easy! Let's get started.

First, grab your stamps. I found a couple of these at the $1 section at Michael's. The big ones I got with a handy 40% off coupon from JoAnne's. They were around $7 originally, so the coupon helped a lot. If you have a smartphone, I would recommend downloading the JoAnne app (which is free) for coupons always at your fingertips. Since I always leave my little mailer with the coupons on it at home, the app is great to use!

Now, if you have stamps, you're probably super smart and already have a good ink pad. I didn't, so I tried a couple of different methods (paint pens, distressing ink) before just giving up and buying a black ink pad. Definitely worth the $3!

I would also recommend putting a paper towel down to protect your surface, as ink can kind of get all over the place (notice the lack of surface protection and the nice ink smudge that's on my counter - and still there to this day?)

Now, lay your inked stamp down and s-l-o-w-l-y and firmly roll that candle over your ink. If I wasn't taking this picture, I would use both hands on the top and bottom of the candle to help with control.

...slowly....slowly....
...and ta-da! Stamped candle!

I had lots of different candles laying around, so I sort of went crazy....

See? Crazy. But it was so easy! And fun! And did I mention I had lots of candles?

Well, I do. Ahem.

Also, since I seem to be keeping Michael's in business, they also have these awesome cardboard tags (with twine) in their $1 section, too. Perfect for a stamp-crazy lady like myself.

Ok, tip time over. Now, where to put the bajillion stamped candles? Hmmmm....Oh, I found some places for them.

On the hall table.

In the bathroom shelves.

And in the kitchen window sill!

This project was so fun and, I spent a grand total of $14 gathering my supplies. This could be a lot cheaper if already have the stamps and the ink. Just remember to roll slowly, allow for dry time and have fun with it!

Thanks for having me here Carissa! I hope you guys can come visit me at A Little Knick Knack soon!
